Integrated In-Roof Solar Is Here
When building a new home, or re-roofing an existing one, a new option is now available in Canada to use an integrated solar module system known as the GSE-In Roof. This will compete with Tesla solar tiles but be considerably less expensive. It will create a flush look and no wires or rail kits are visible.
The GSE mounting kits work with any roofing material including concrete tiles, metal, asphalt, and recycled rubber shingle products.
An added bonus - save money by not shingling your entire roof and use solar modules instead!
The GSE In-roof system uses mounting plates and it looks like this when being installed. Regular roofing material (your choice) goes around the system. Your roofer needs to do this work.
The finished product looks like this.
Sweet Spot Solar is currently making the GSE In-Roof system available with modules mounted in landscape orientation. We are using a high-quality monocrystalline module made by Silfab (290 Watts) to create a stunning black-on-black effect. When combined with micro-inverters like the Enphase IQ7, you will have the most elegant and powerful roof in your neighbourhood. This is also a perfect solution for strata complexes that have concerns about the aesthetics of solar typically mounted on rail-based systems.
We are currently working with a client in the North Kamloops area on a 12.18 KW array composed of 42 modules. This is a re-roofing project scheduled for the Spring of 2019.
